What is a Breast Lift?

A breast lift is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and tightens the surrounding tissue to raise and reshape the breasts. Unlike breast augmentation, a breast lift doesn’t significantly change the size of your breasts but focuses on improving their shape and position. It can be a great option for women who are satisfied with their breast size but want to address sagging or drooping.

Types of Breast Lift Techniques

  1. Crescent Lift: Involves a small incision around the top half of the areola. Ideal for women with minimal sagging.
  2. Peri-Areolar Lift (Donut Lift): An incision is made around the perimeter of the areola, ideal for mild sagging and areola size reduction.
  3. Vertical Lift (Lollipop Lift): Involves an incision around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease. It’s suitable for moderate sagging and reshaping.
  4. Anchor Lift: Involves three incisions—around the areola, vertically down to the breast crease, and along the crease. It’s ideal for significant sagging and reshaping.

The breast lift Procedure

  • Consultation: During the initial consultation, your surgeon will evaluate your breast size, shape, skin elasticity, and nipple position. Together, you’ll discuss your aesthetic goals and the appropriate technique for your body.

  • Surgery: The surgery typically takes 2 to 3 hours under general anesthesia. The surgeon will make the necessary incisions, remove excess skin, reshape the breast tissue, and reposition the nipples. Stitches are placed deep within the tissue to support the new breast shape.

  • Recovery: After surgery, you may experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort, but these symptoms will gradually subside over a few weeks. Most patients can return to light activities within 1-2 weeks but should avoid strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for 4-6 weeks. You will be required to wear a surgical bra for support during the healing process.
